Hampton recently wrapped up his project titled “The Pleasure of the Dawn Chorus: Conserving the Pandemic Soundscape.” This project engaged with the wildlife throughout urban environments, and invites reflection on how we can maintain relationships with the non-human inhabitants with whom we share our cities.

This interdisciplinary project was the result of collaboration between a range of faculty, students, and artists, representing such disciplines as Music, Biology, and Religious Studies. The project culminated in a lecture recital, music performance, and reflections. To learn more about the project, and watch the lecture and other videos, head to Dr. Hampton’s website

Annual Meeting Travel Grants

The deadline for Annual Meeting Travel Grants is fast approaching! Every spring, the AAR awards 25 travels grants of $500 each and complimentary registration to members who demonstrate both financial need and a desire to participate in the Annual Meeting. The AAR also awards the Religion and the Arts Travel Grant to one graduate student studying religion and the arts who is without insitutional support.

For members who are planning to attend the upcoming meeting in Denver, consider applying for either of these grants before the May 13 deadline. More information about criteria and application requirements can be found on the AAR's website: https://www.aarweb.org/AARMBR/Who-We-Are-/Grant-Programs
