Explore "The Pleasure of the Dawn Chorus" Project

Hawk standing on fence post. Text reads: Bioacoustics, the arts, religion and conservationEIR Vice President Alexander J.B. Hampton recently wrapped up his project titled “The Pleasure of the Dawn Chorus: Conserving the Pandemic Soundscape.” This project engaged with the wildlife throughout urban environments, and invites reflection on how we can maintain relationships with the non-human inhabitants with whom we share our cities.

This interdisciplinary project was the result of collaboration between a range of faculty, students, and artists, representing such disciplines as Music, Biology, and Religious Studies. The project culminated in a lecture recital, music performance, and reflections. To learn more about the project, and watch the lecture and other videos, head to Dr. Hampton’s website
