The Eastern International Region of the American Academy of Religion serves as a gateway into the academic study of religion for regional participants who reside in Western Pennsylvania, the State of New York (excluding New York City), and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The EIR is a benefit to being a member of the AAR, no extra fee.

Welcome from EIR President Abrahim Khan
Greetings from Toronto. Here’s hoping we can make this year a better one despite pandemic challenges. One of the ways we’re working to make things better is through the launch of the new EIR website.
We want to hear from you to create and sustain an engaging and creative community of scholars in studying different aspects of religion. Use the new website feature [“Share News” link]  to share your publications, events, conferences, programming suggestions, job listings, grants availability, publications, events, and other activities with Regional members. Our intention is to help members widen networks and spark conversations with scholars across the Regions. Check out the AAR-EIR Twitter feeds and Facebook page about AAR and Regional updates. Get acquainted with our Board members.
I’m happy to share that in early December 2021, I was in Riyad, Saudi Arabia at a philosophy conference whose theme was unpredictability to deliver  a paper entitled, “Unpredictability, Existential Psychotherapy, and Muhammad Iqbal.”

What’s your story?
Tell us.
