The Eastern International Region of the American Academy of Religion serves as a gateway into the academic study of religion for regional participants who reside in Western Pennsylvania, the State of New York (excluding New York City), and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The EIR is a benefit to being a member of the AAR, at no extra fee.

Travel Grant Winner for Montreal 2026 Meeting

The EIR is please to announce the winner of the 2026 travel grant.

Tian Qin is a Ph.D. student currently based at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Tian is presenting on the Qi-monism of Wang Fuzhi, considered as a pre-modern approach to the relationship between science and religion, and he'll receive 300 dollars from the AAR-EIR to use toward his expenses. Happy to have you here, Tian!
