The Eastern International Region of the American Academy of Religion serves as a gateway into the academic study of religion for regional participants who reside in Western Pennsylvania, the State of New York (excluding New York City), and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The EIR is a benefit to being a member of the AAR, at no extra fee.

Travel Grant(s) for Montreal 2026 Meeting
This yearly grant is awarded on a competitive basis to members who are presenting at the upcoming meeting, and who demonstrate both financial need and a desire to participate in the meeting. Special consideration is given to students and scholars who are contingent or un/underemployed.
In order to be considered, applicants should submit an email expressing their interest, a current CV, and a brief statement (150-300 words) describing their current employment status, history of participation in the AAR, and how this grant would support their participation at the upcoming meeting.
